It's Been 2 Whole Months

Well, truth be told, it's been about 8 months since I've last blogged but, we aren't going to talk about that *sips tea with no shame attached*🍵.

Now that that is out of the way, what I am referring to is social media. It has been two whole months since I have deactivated my social media accounts (Instagram and TikTok). With that being said, allow me to reintroduce myself:

Hi, my name is Andrea and I was addicted to Social Media 😅. One day I accidentally swiped right on my iPhone and learned that my daily use of both TikTok and Instagram averaged about 4 hours per day! Shocked at that finding I made an executive decision (with the opposing parties being me, myself, and I) to deactivate.

Initially, I was only going to deactivate my accounts for 31 days, as a "social media cleanse", before the new year. However, today is February 1st, and I have yet to look back.

Quite a few things have transpired since deciding to deactivate my accounts. I won't go into all of the details or the pros (or cons) that I have noticed; I will save that for a later blog. However, one thing that is worth noting is that I have so much time on my hands!

And what have I been doing with said time, you ask? A lot! But mostly, reading and allowing myself to venture into a vacillating internal introspective state that has vastly opened my mind, heart and soul. You can think of it as a "philosophical voyage" if you will; and frankly, I am enjoying the journey.

Anyhoo, I'll list some of the books that I have read below since ghosting social media.

So, what's the point of this blog? Just a friendly reminder to give social media a break every once in a while. You'll be surprised at the benefits.

Books:

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

The Psychology of Money

Everything is F*cked

Atomic Habits

Hoodoo
